I’m Akiko Awa, a sociology researcher specializing in child protection issues in France and Japan. Currently attached to Waseda University in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan, I live between my home country and a country I love for its social worker activism: France.
The title of my thesis of Doctor degree was “Clinical Sociology Research about Child Protection Social Work In an Open Environment in France”.
My research has mainly focused on comparisons between the systems set up between these two countries, in terms of social work, child protection, children’s rights, education and support for parenthood. I have organized several Franco-Japanese meetings on these themes, and have given several conferences in prestigious venues in Japan.
Below you’ll find a selection of my publications in English, the rest of my work being available in Japanese only. If you’d like to contact me about one of my areas of expertise, I’d be delighted to do so: please use the contact form to tell us what you’re looking for.
